Bangladesh Bank Governor Md. Mustakur Rahman visited Nila Market in Purbachal New Town on Saturday to drive forward an ongoing campaign aimed at expanding the adoption of the 'Bangla QR' digital payment framework.
Senior officials from the central bank, alongside executives from participating commercial banks and payment service providers (PSPs), joined the Governor during his market tour.
While inspecting various commercial stalls across the market, the Governor engaged in conversations with local shopkeepers and consumers to showcase the practical advantages of digital transactions.
He encouraged both merchants and shoppers to transition toward Bangla QR, describing it as a secure, efficient, and user-friendly payment solution for routine day-to-day shopping.
To demonstrate the system's ease of use in real time, Governor Rahman purchased several consumer goods from local vendors and completed the transactions using Bangla QR code scanning.
The Governor expressed confidence that hands-on demonstrations would generate broader enthusiasm and strengthen awareness among small business owners and everyday citizens to integrate Bangla QR into their daily financial habits.
