Modhumoti Bank Names Salahuddin Alamgir Chairman, Ismail Hossain Vice Chairman

Modhumoti Bank PLC has elected prominent business leader Salahuddin Alamgir (CIP) as Chairman of its newly reconstituted Board of Directors during its 98th board meeting held on Tuesday (July 28) at the bank's head office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

The board also elected Mohammad Ismail Hossain as Vice Chairman, while Mostafa Kamal was chosen as Chairman of the Executive Committee and A Mannan Khan was named Chairman of the Risk Management Committee.

Attending directors and senior executives greeted the newly elected leadership with floral bouquets during the session.

Born into a respected Muslim family in Tangail, newly elected Chairman Salahuddin Alamgir is a prominent corporate figure who serves as Chairman and CEO of Labib Group. The conglomerate operates across textiles, sweaters, dyeing, banking, leasing, electronics, IT, and livestock sectors, maintaining a strong commercial reputation over the past 25 years.

For his contributions to national trade and industrial growth, Alamgir has earned multiple national and international recognitions. He currently serves as President of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, the Bangladesh Dyed Yarn Exporters Association, and the Gazipur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Vice Chairman Mohammad Ismail Hossain, born in 1966 into a distinguished family in Faridpur, has served as an Executive Committee member since Modhumoti Bank's inception.

Hossain is the Managing Director of Sharmin Group, one of the country's largest 100 percent export-oriented garment manufacturers. He serves as a Director of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and previously held a directorship at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

A designated Commercially Important Person (CIP), Hossain has received the Socrates Award and Manager of the Year honors for his contributions to the readymade garment industry. He maintains life memberships at Gulshan Club Limited, Uttara Club Limited, Kurmitola Golf Club Limited, Dhaka Boat Club Limited, and the India-Bangladesh Friendship Club, Dhaka.

The board meeting was attended by bank directors Humayun Kabir, Nemai Kumar Saha, Tanjima Binthe Mostafa, Sultana Jahan, and Tanveer Ahmed Mostafa representing Md Mahbubur Rahman, alongside Independent Director Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Shafiul Azam.
