Industrialist MA Khan Belal Elected New Chairman of Mercantile Bank

Mercantile Bank PLC has chosen distinguished business leader MA Khan Belal to head its Board of Directors as the financial institution's new Chairman.

The official decision was reached at the bank's head office in Dhaka during its 490th Board of Directors session on Thursday, as confirmed through an official press statement released on Saturday.

Before his elevation to board chairman, Khan Belal held the position of Chairman of the bank's Executive Committee.

Boasting a long-standing career across diverse sectors including trade, industrial enterprise, maritime shipping, and financial services, Belal is the founder of several domestic businesses and presently holds the chairmanship of the Samrat Group of Companies.

Beyond his corporate leadership, he occupies the role of elected President of the Noakhali Zila Samity.

In addition to his commercial activities, Belal frequently contributes to social welfare projects in healthcare, public infrastructure, and educational advancement.

His philanthropic commitments include founding numerous academic facilities, religious institutions, mosques, and social service organizations throughout his native Begumganj in Noakhali.
