‘CottonPort’ Launched to Boost Bangladesh’s Apparel Exports to US

AmeriBangla Corporation has launched ‘CottonPort’, the country’s first digital marketplace for raw cotton, aiming to boost Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States.

AmeriBangla Corporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aswar Rahman formally inaugurated the platform at a hotel in the capital today (Thursday).

Speaking at the event, Rahman said CottonPort would enable Bangladeshi spinning mills to purchase cotton directly from US farmers.

“This will reduce the role of intermediaries while ensuring fair prices for cotton and greater transparency in the supply chain,” he said.

The platform began operations with an offer of 82 tonnes of raw cotton sourced from Virginia in the United States.

More than 30 spinning mills have already expressed interest in purchasing US cotton through CottonPort, according to AmeriBangla.

The platform will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and offer dynamic pricing, container-based supply and certified traceability.

AmeriBangla said it plans to supply 10 containers of cotton per month on a pilot basis in 2026.

The company aims to increase the volume to 1,600 containers per month by 2028.

The company said its broader objective is to contribute to increasing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and the United States from the current level of USD 10 billion to USD 100 billion by 2045.
