The Agro-Processing Global Gateway 2026 (APGG 2026) has successfully concluded its regional editions, marking a transformative shift in how Bangladesh’s agricultural sector integrates with the global value chain.

Organized by CEMS-Global Bangladesh in collaboration with the BYETS Project (Swisscontact Bangladesh) and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the initiative has opened doors for export deals and investment opportunities worth millions of dollars.

Moving away from traditional exhibition formats, APGG 2026 employed a results-oriented hybrid model held across three strategic hubs: Chattogram (April 1-2), Khulna (April 3-4) and Rajshahi (April 5-6).

This regional approach allowed international buyers from France, India, and Sri Lanka to engage directly with local production strengths, ranging from seafood and jute in Chattogram to frozen foods in Khulna and fresh mangoes in Rajshahi.

A standout feature of the program was the direct participation of GAP-certified farmers and SME entrepreneurs.

By connecting these grassroots producers directly with global buyers, the initiative has successfully shortened supply chains and increased transparency.

Key commercial outcomes already reported include:

High-Volume Exports: A primary agreement for potato exports targeting 30–40 containers per week.

New Market Entry: Negotiations for dried fish and processed food exports to Sri Lanka and market entry pathways for bio-degradable packaging into the EU.

Foreign Investment: Strong interest from Sri Lankan stakeholders in establishing sunflower oil extraction plants in Khulna.

The program facilitated a unique “triangular engagement” between producers, international buyers, and government regulators.

Agricultural and quarantine officials participated in compliance-focused sessions, providing buyers with critical insights into Bangladesh’s certification processes.

This transparency has significantly bolstered international buyer confidence in the country’s ability to meet rigorous global standards.

CEMS-Global Bangladesh emphasized that APGG 2026 marks a strategic shift from event-based promotion to a structured, outcome-driven ecosystem.

With over 100 producers and exporters having participated, the platform is now viewed as a scalable model for diversifying Bangladesh's export basket beyond the ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

As the agro-processing sector moves from promise to performance, plans are already underway for the next edition in October 2026, which will feature expanded international participation and even stronger representation for local exporters.
