Legendary film actor Masud Parvez, popularly known as Sohel Rana, has sparked a heated debate by calling for a complete ban on Indian television channels in Bangladesh.

The veteran star, who is frequently vocal on social media regarding national issues, took to Facebook to express his frustration following recent tensions in the cricketing world.

The controversy was ignited by the exclusion of Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL.

Despite being signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 9.20 crore Rupees, reports suggest that Mustafizur was dropped due to local political pressure and objections from the BCCI, a move that has outraged fans and celebrities across Bangladesh.

"Shut Down Indian TV"

In a post on his verified Facebook account on Monday, January 5, Sohel Rana demanded reciprocity in broadcasting.

"As long as our television channels are not allowed to be broadcast in India, Indian television must be completely shut down in our country as well," he wrote.

Impact on Society

The actor didn't stop at broadcasting rights; he also took aim at the content of Indian serials. In a subsequent post, he criticized the popular Indian "Saas-Bahu" (mother-in-law vs. daughter-in-law) dramas.

"The petty quarrels between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law in Indian dramas are tearing apart our social bonds," Sohel Rana remarked, suggesting that these shows have a negative influence on Bangladeshi family values.

A Growing Trend of Protest

Sohel Rana is not the only star to speak out. Fellow actor Misha Sawdagor also recently condemned the IPL incident, joining a growing chorus of Bangladeshi celebrities expressing their anger toward the neighboring country’s sporting and cultural policies.
