The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Tollywood actress and former Member of Parliament, Nusrat Jahan, in connection with an investigation into a ration distribution scam. She has been directed to appear at the CGO Complex in Kolkata tomorrow, April 22.

According to reports from Indian media outlet Zee News, the investigation centers on allegations of corruption regarding the illegal transport of wheat to Bangladesh.

The irregularities reportedly occurred during Nusrat’s tenure as the MP for the Basirhat constituency. Investigators suspect there may be financial links between the smuggling ring and the actress.

Request for Venue Change
Sources indicate that while she was ordered to appear in Kolkata, Nusrat Jahan has submitted a special request to the central agency. She has reportedly asked to record her statement at the ED headquarters in New Delhi instead of the Kolkata office.

Political Context
Nusrat Jahan served a five-year term as the MP for Basirhat under the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Although she was elected on a party ticket, she did not contest the subsequent elections. Despite this, she is still widely considered to be closely associated with the party.
