Indian National Film Award-winning singer Iman Chakraborty and her team members have alleged that they faced harassment by airline staff at an airport in the United States.
Iman claimed that staff from American Airlines barred them from boarding a flight at Dallas airport while they were en route to New Jersey to perform at a Durga Puja event.
She further alleged that airline employees pushed them away from the boarding gate and refused to take responsibility for potential damage to their musical instruments.
Sharing the entire incident during a live stream on social media, Iman Chakraborty stated that they had arrived at Dallas airport on time for their scheduled flight to New Jersey.
However, they were stopped from boarding the American Airlines flight.
When they protested, the airline staff reportedly mistreated them and physically pushed them away from the boarding gate.
Iman also alleged that the airline personnel made irresponsible comments regarding the safety of her team's professional musical instruments, explicitly stating that the airline would not take responsibility if the instruments were damaged.
As a result of the ordeal, Iman and her team missed their scheduled flight. She noted that they were later informed that the next flight was at 12:00 PM, though uncertainty remained over whether they would be permitted to board that flight as well.
Expressing deep indignation over such a distressing experience abroad, Iman Chakraborty brought the matter to public attention, sparking widespread discussion on social media.
The report noted that American Airlines had not issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
