A court has issued an arrest warrant against film actress Pori Moni.
The order was passed after rejecting her bail plea due to her failure to appear in court in a case filed by Nasir Uddin Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club Limited.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman of Dhaka issued the order on Wednesday (November 4).
On July 18, 2022, businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud filed a complaint case in a Dhaka court accusing Pori Moni of assault, vandalism, attempted murder, and issuing threats.
According to the complaint, Nasir Uddin stated that on June 8, 2021, Pori Moni and her associates entered the Boat Club in Savar and used the washroom. Later, they sat inside the club and consumed alcohol.
Around 1:15 AM, as they were leaving, Pori Moni called him over and pressured him to give her a bottle of Blue Label alcohol free of cost.
When he refused, Pori Moni verbally abused him. At one point, she allegedly hurled a glass at him with the intent to kill, hitting him in the head and chest.
Following an investigation into the case, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a report to the court in April last year against Pori Moni and her costume designer, Junayed Bogdadi Jimmy.
According to police and court sources, the PBI investigation found evidence supporting the assault charges against businessman Nasir Uddin.
The report also confirmed the incident where Nasir Uddin was injured after being hit by a liquor glass thrown by Pori Moni.
