Measles Death Toll Hits 156 as Seven More Die in 24 Hours

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported seven additional deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8 am on Monday, bringing the total death toll to 156.

Among the latest fatalities, two were confirmed to have been suffering from measles.

During this same 24-hour window, the country recorded 1,371 suspected cases, with 729 patients admitted to various hospitals.

World Health Day Observed Today

According to DGHS data, the total number of hospitalizations for suspected measles has reached 10,954. Of these, 8,369 patients have recovered and been discharged.

Geographically, the Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected measles deaths in the last 24 hours with four fatalities.

At the district level, Dhaka district also accounted for the highest death toll during this period, reporting four deaths.

The health directorate further specified that the total number of confirmed measles deaths between March 15 and April 13 has reached 30.
