An additional young woman succumbed to conditions displaying measles-like manifestations within Sylhet, pushing the aggregate count of verified and prospective measles fatalities across the Sylhet division to 158 for the current year.

The deceased was recognized as Sumaiya, aged 18 years and eight months, being the daughter of Abdul Matin originating from Juri upazila in Moulvibazar.

She passed away while receiving medical interventions at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, as disclosed via a measles status briefing published by the Office of the Divisional Director of Health in Sylhet on Sunday.

Previously, two additional adolescent girls alongside a professional nurse perished from the contagion, according to statements from public health officials.

As per the official bulletin, 10 out of the 158 total fatalities constituted confirmed measles cases, whereas 148 individuals expired while exhibiting measles symptoms.

In the interim, 112 prospective measles sufferers were admitted into medical facilities across the division throughout the preceding 24-hour window leading up to 8 am on Sunday.

At present, an aggregate of 466 suspected measles patients are undergoing clinical care across various public and private healthcare institutions situated within the Sylhet division.

Data from the report indicates that a cumulative total of 1,031 confirmed measles episodes have been identified within the region since the onset of the year.

Among these figures, 363 incidents were logged in Sylhet, 357 in Sunamganj, 158 in Moulvibazar, and 153 in Habiganj.
