Dengue Hospitalizations Exceed 50,000; Death Toll Reaches 143

Two more people died from dengue in the country over a 24-hour period, while 1,056 new patients were hospitalized with the mosquito-borne disease. This brings the total number of hospitalizations this year to 50,276.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared this information in its regular daily dengue bulletin on Saturday (September 12).

According to the bulletin, both deceased individuals were male—one a child aged 6 to 10 years, and the other between 56 and 60 years old.

Division-wise statistics show that the Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new hospitalizations with 251 patients in the past day.

Additionally, 103 patients were admitted in Chattogram division, 48 in Mymensingh division, 108 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 76 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 199 in Khulna division, 47 in Rangpur division, 73 in Rajshahi division, and 144 in Barishal division.

Between January 1 and today, a total of 50,276 people have been hospitalized for dengue across the country.

Regarding fatalities by region, 48 deaths occurred in hospitals under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 18 under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and 8 outside the city corporations.

Furthermore, 25 deaths were reported in Khulna, 14 in Mymensingh, 12 in Barishal, 10 in Chattogram, 6 in Rajshahi, and 1 each in Rangpur and Sylhet.
