
Six additional children succumbed to conditions exhibiting measles-like symptoms during the 24-hour window leading up to 8 am on Tuesday, pushing the nation's combined total of confirmed and suspected measles fatalities to 1,036 for the year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) categorized all six of these recent deaths under the classification of suspected measles cases.
Following these additions, the aggregate count of suspected measles deaths has climbed to 936, whereas the tally for laboratory-confirmed deaths remains unchanged at 100.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,239 new suspected cases of the disease were documented, raising the cumulative volume of suspected cases nationwide to 173,959.
Simultaneously, 77 newly confirmed measles cases were registered, elevating the overall count of laboratory-verified infections to 20,201.
According to statistics provided by the DGHS, a cumulative total of 153,279 patients presenting with suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to medical facilities across the country since March 15 of this year, out of which 147,386 individuals have successfully recovered.
