Dengue Toll Hits 214 as 3 More Succumb, Nationwide Cases Cross 71000

Health officials on Saturday reported 1,432 new dengue hospitalizations and three fatalities across the country during the past 24 hours.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement, among the 1,432 newly admitted patients, 204 were hospitalized in Barishal division, 209 in Chattogram division, 280 in Dhaka division, 170 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas, 106 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 241 in Khulna division, 112 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division, and 53 in Rangpur division.

Since the beginning of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded 214 deaths, while total infections have reached 71,536.

In comparison, the vector-borne disease claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 individuals in the country last year. Furthermore, dengue took 575 lives and affected 101,214 people in 2024.
