Over the past 24 hours, five additional children lost their lives across the nation while exhibiting symptoms of measles, pushing the overall fatality toll from both verified measles cases and measles-like illnesses to 1,104 between March 15 and September 29.

This data was made public on Tuesday in an official press release distributed by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The statement indicated that health authorities logged 1,255 new suspected cases of the disease within the last 24 hours, which elevates the cumulative tally of suspected infections to 190,510 over the March 15 to September 29 period.

Additionally, 84 cases were officially confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed measles infections to 21,392 since March 15.

Throughout the timeframe spanning March 15 to September 29, healthcare facilities admitted a total of 168,655 individuals presenting suspected measles symptoms, of whom 161,798 successfully recovered and were released from medical care.

Within the last 24 hours specifically, all five child fatalities were attributed to suspected cases, raising the total count of deaths linked to suspected measles to 1,003 since March 15.

Meanwhile, no new fatalities were recorded from confirmed measles over the past day, leaving the overall death toll from lab-confirmed measles at 101 since March 15.
