
Four children succumbed to measles and related symptoms during the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Friday, raising the nationwide combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles fatalities to 1,114 this year.
Among the most recent deaths, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified one as a laboratory-confirmed measles casualty and designated the remaining three as suspected measles deaths.
Following these updates, the cumulative count of suspected measles fatalities stands at 1,012, while confirmed deaths have risen to 102.
A total of 1,221 fresh suspected measles cases were logged over the same 24-hour window, pushing the overall tally of suspected infections across the country to 194,084.
Concurrently, health authorities registered 21 new confirmed measles cases, elevating the aggregate number of laboratory-verified infections to 21,623.
According to official data compiled by the DGHS, 172,021 patients presenting with suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since March 15 of this year, with 166,933 of them having successfully recovered.
