
One individual succumbed to dengue while 1,163 patients were admitted to hospitals with the vector-borne infection over the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Friday, according to a regular bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the newly hospitalized cases, 420 were reported in Dhaka Division, 77 in Mymensingh Division, 333 in Chattogram Division, 111 in Khulna Division, 151 in Barishal Division, and 71 in Rangpur Division.
Health services data reveals that a aggregate total of 82,761 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country so far this year.
With the single fatality recorded in the last 24 hours, the national death toll from the illness has reached 250 for the current year.
During the same 24-hour window, 1,163 individuals recovered and were discharged from medical facilities, bringing the overall number of recovered dengue patients who have returned home after hospital treatment this year to 76,861.
For context, a total of 102,861 dengue infections and 413 related fatalities were registered nationwide last year.
