
Six additional children succumbed to measles-like symptoms across the country over the past 24 hours, elevating the cumulative mortality count from both laboratory-confirmed measles and symptomatic cases to 1,134 between March 15 and October 6.
This information was disclosed in an official press release issued on Tuesday by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the official release, health facilities logged 1,291 suspected measles cases within the last 24 hours, bringing the aggregate number of suspected infections reported from March 15 to October 6 to 199,013.
During the same 24-hour period, 102 laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, pushing the overall tally of confirmed infections to 21,910.
A total of 176,516 patients presenting with suspected measles were admitted to various hospitals nationwide between March 15 and October 6, with 169,290 individuals successfully recovering and being discharged from clinical care during this timeframe.
All six fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours involved children presenting with suspected measles symptoms, raising the overall death toll from symptomatic cases to 1,032 since March 15.
No fatalities were attributed to laboratory-confirmed measles within the last 24 hours, leaving the total number of confirmed measles deaths at 102 since March 15.
