Israel has launched a major offensive on Lebanon. In Monday's attack targeting around 300 Hezbollah positions, at least 492 people were killed, including 35 children, and over a thousand others were injured. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health provided these casualty figures. Additionally, thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes to escape the bombardment.

Clashes between Lebanon's armed group Hezbollah and Israeli forces have been ongoing for several days. On Monday (September 23), Israeli forces carried out multiple airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon.

Israel stated that they struck approximately 300 targets in Lebanon. This is the largest Israeli assault on a neighboring country since the conflict began on October 8 of last year.

Meanwhile, the United States is sending a "small number" of additional troops in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to the Pentagon. However, the exact number of deployed troops has not been disclosed.

Pentagon spokesperson, Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder, said, "As a precautionary measure, we are sending a small number of additional U.S. military personnel to bolster our forces in the region."

This announcement comes amid growing concerns over a regional war. The cross-border retaliatory strikes between Israel and Hezbollah are the most severe since the violence began nearly a year ago. So far, Israel has hit hundreds of targets in Lebanon.

The U.S. already has thousands of troops stationed in the Middle East, along with warships, fighter jets, and air defense systems, to protect both U.S. forces and Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its offensive in the Gaza Strip. According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, 24 Palestinians have been killed, and 60 others injured in the last 24 hours.

Among the casualties in Gaza, a mother and her four children were killed in Deir al-Balah. Additionally, two separate attacks on school shelters claimed the lives of 10 more Palestinians.
