"Ten mine workers lost their lives in an attack in Harnai district," senior government official Shahzad Zahri told AFP.

The victims were travelling from their worksite to a market when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED), said Saleem Tareen, another senior government official. "It was an IED blast, and we are investigating the attack," he added.

Harnai district lies approximately 160 kilometres (104 miles) from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, the Baloch Liberation Army, known for targeting security forces and non-Baloch residents, has frequently carried out such attacks in the region.
