During the visit of US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, to Moscow for peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the war in Ukraine, a car bomb exploded. This incident resulted in the death of a senior Russian general.
The explosion occurred on Friday, April 25, 2025. According to reports from Russian media, the explosion took place in the city of Balashikha, Moscow, where a bomb planted in a car resulted in the death of Major General Yaroslav Moskalyk, the deputy commander of the Russian Armed Forces' Chief Operational Command.
The bomb was placed in a vehicle parked near the general's home. It detonated remotely when Moskalyk walked near the car.
BBC's report suggests that the general was a pro-Kremlin figure and may have been targeted by Ukrainian nationals residing in Russia.
This event follows a series of Russian drone and missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, which took place late on Wednesday night.
