Finance Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has clarified that no decision has been made regarding the dearness allowance for government officials and employees.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (28 January), Dr Ahmed stated, "I am unaware of any announcement regarding the dearness allowance. Once the matter is brought to the Ministry of Finance, we will review it and make a decision accordingly. An official announcement will follow after that."
He further mentioned that the decision to increase the allowance for foreign missions was taken a long time ago.
Dr Ahmed assured that sufficient reserves of rice and wheat would be secured to prevent any shortages during Ramadan.
Commenting on the demands of railway employees, he said, "We have addressed as many of their justified demands as possible, including resolving the issue of overtime. However, additional demands cannot be met due to the country's current economic constraints."
