The Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued an urgent warning to its expatriates following the detention of several Bangladeshi nationals for organizing unauthorized campaign events related to Bangladesh's upcoming parliamentary elections.
In a press release issued Wednesday night (December 17), the embassy urged all citizens residing in the Kingdom to strictly follow local laws and refrain from any political activities.
Unauthorized Gatherings Lead to Arrests
According to the embassy, Saudi authorities recently took several individuals into custody for:
Organizing rallies and meetings in rented halls, hotels, restaurants, or private residences under the banners of various unauthorized organizations.
Conducting group election campaigns centered around the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election of Bangladesh.
Spreading criminal or misleading information on social media platforms.
Embassy Directive

The embassy’s notice emphasized that holding political gatherings or campaigns without prior approval from Saudi authorities is a violation of the Kingdom's regulations.
"All expatriate Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia are specially requested to refrain from organizing any meetings or rallies, participating in political campaigns, and disseminating criminal or misleading information on social media without the approval of Saudi authorities," the statement read.
The mission further reminded the expatriate community of the importance of respecting the laws and regulations of the host country to avoid legal repercussions.
