Bangladesh Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain has declared that there will be no compromise regarding the sovereignty of member states belonging to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He made these remarks on Saturday (January 10) during the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The emergency session was convened by the OIC to discuss Israel's recognition of a specific region in Somalia and its subsequent impact on Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the broader regional and international implications.

The Foreign Advisor stated, "Bangladesh stands in complete solidarity with the OIC's collective resolve to uphold international law, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states, and preserve the unity and solidarity of the Muslim world."

He urged the OIC to explicitly reject and condemn such recognition by Israel.

Simultaneously, he called for a reaffirmation of full and unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The sovereignty of OIC member states is not negotiable in any way," Touhid Hossain emphasized. "Illegal negotiations and initiatives are never acceptable.

Justice, international law, and multilateralism must prevail over unilateral decisions and the politics of pressure."

Earlier on Saturday morning, a preparatory meeting of senior officials was held ahead of the ministerial session, attended by a large number of representatives from OIC member countries.

The meeting also expressed continued solidarity with the people of Palestine.
