Indian diplomatic missions across the Gulf region have launched a massive coordination effort to assist thousands of Indian nationals stranded by widespread flight disruptions.
The crisis, triggered by the sudden closure of airspace in parts of West Asia due to the escalating regional conflict, has paralyzed commercial aviation across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait confirmed on Tuesday that it remains "fully engaged" with affected travelers, with officials maintaining constant contact with airline managements and hotel authorities to ensure the welfare of those stuck in transit.
Similar relief measures are underway in Saudi Arabia, where the Indian Embassy announced that IndiGo will operate special repatriation flights from Jeddah to transport stranded passengers back to India.
The aviation sector remains in a state of high alert, with Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways announcing a total suspension of all scheduled commercial flights until at least 2 pm (UAE time) on Wednesday (March 4).
While the airline is coordinating limited cargo and repositioning flights under strict safety approvals, it has advised guests to stay away from airports unless contacted directly.
To mitigate the impact, Etihad is offering free rebooking for travel through March 18 and providing full refunds for affected bookings.
Other major carriers, including SpiceJet and Akasa Air, have reported significant cancellations.
Akasa Air confirmed that while select services to Jeddah will resume following safety reviews, all operations to Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, and Riyadh will remain suspended until March 4.
As authorities and airlines continue to monitor the volatile security situation, diplomatic missions have urged all travelers to verify their flight status online and ensure their contact details are updated before attempting any travel.
