Mohsen Rezaee, military advisor to Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Ali Khamenei, has issued a stark warning: any attempt by the United States to act as a "police force" in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz will result in American vessels being sunk.

The threat follows a period of heightened regional tension. After a combined US and Israeli strike on Iran on February 28, Tehran moved to close the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, the United States has enforced a naval blockade on the strait and Iranian ports.

Speaking on Iranian state television, Rezaee directly addressed the US administration's stance. "Trump wants to be the police in the Strait of Hormuz," he stated. "Is this your job? Is this the job of a powerful military like that of the United States?"

Rezaee warned that the American surveillance and naval vessels enforcing the blockade are highly vulnerable. "Your ships could be sunk by our very first missile strike," he cautioned.

Mohsen Rezaee is a high-ranking military figure in Iran, having served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from 1981 to 1997.

Last month, state media confirmed that Rezaee had come out of retirement to serve as the military advisor to Mojtaba Khamenei.
