Iran Declares Closure of the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has officially announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The directive was issued by the country's top military command immediately after the commencement of US airstrikes.

According to a report by the Iranian news agency Mehr on Wednesday (June 10), the top military command of Iran has ordered the immediate closure of the crucial waterway to all maritime vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that any vessel attempting to transit through the strait will be targeted. The Iranian military stated that this decisive action is a direct protest against American aggression.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the United States has initiated fresh retaliatory strikes on multiple targets within Iran, citing self-defense.

CENTCOM added that the strikes are being carried out under the direct orders of President Donald Trump and serve as a response to Iran’s unprovoked aggression.

Following CENTCOM's announcement, Mehr news agency reported explosions in the Iranian city of Fars. The agency further noted that air defense systems have been activated on the outskirts of the city.
