Iran still possesses the military capability to sustain a prolonged conflict with the United States, according to defense analyst Wolfgang Pistorius (Wolfgang Pistai).

In his view, while Iran has faced significant damage from U.S. strikes, its military capabilities have not been entirely paralyzed.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Pistai noted that Iran is preparing for a long-term war, at least from a military perspective.

He stated that although Iran has suffered major blows from U.S. attacks, the country still retains the capacity to target shipping vessels traversing the Strait of Hormuz.

On the other hand, the analyst believes that the situation for the United States is more political than a matter of military capability.

He suggests that despite various reports, U.S. missile stockpiles may not have depleted as much as claimed.

Pistai pointed out that the major challenge for President Donald Trump is political.

If Democrats gain control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections, it does not necessarily mean the conflict will end.

Instead, he believes the U.S. might rely even more heavily on economic pressure and alternative financial strategies rather than direct military action, while naval blockades in the Strait of Hormuz are also expected to continue.
