US President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for the recent drone attack on Saudi Arabia's vital oil pipeline.
Responding to a reporter's question during his visit to Ireland, he claimed that Iran is most likely behind the attack.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several drones coming from the direction of Iraq attacked the crucial "East-West" pipeline—which extends from the country's eastern region to the Yanbu port in the west—on Thursday (September 10).
The attack left a few people injured and caused partial damage to the infrastructure.
Following the incident, operations on the pipeline were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to secure oil supplies.
The shutdown of the East-West pipeline has raised fresh concerns regarding the Middle East energy supply network and the global oil market.
Significant volatility in oil supplies and shipping has already been observed in international markets.
This attack on the Saudi pipeline occurred shortly after Yemen's Houthi rebels took full control of the strategic Mocha port and Zakar Island in the Red Sea.
According to military and geopolitical analysts, such attacks could further complicate and intensify the ongoing Middle East crisis.
