The Trump administration is set to approve a 2.8 billion dollar arms package for Israel, which includes approximately 40,000 bombs, according to US officials citing the Associated Press.

According to the report, the arms package has not yet been finalized.

It includes 20,000 high-capacity 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs and general-purpose high-capacity BLU-117 bombs used by the US Navy.

These bombs feature various versions: some are designed to strike deep underground targets, while others are capable of detonating above ground to inflict widespread destruction.

The Associated Press report states that the US Congress has been informally notified of the proposed arms deal.

The majority of the cost will be funded through foreign military financing.

Under this system, funds from US taxpayers are provided to Israel, which Israel then uses to purchase weapons directly from the United States.

Regarding this matter, a senior Trump administration official told the French news agency AFP that all foreign arms sales processes are moving forward in compliance with proper regulations.

However, the official declined to comment on the specific ongoing arms transaction.
