In response to attacks on Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have agreed to rapidly deploy military forces and capabilities to the kingdom.
The decision was announced jointly by the three nations on Monday (October 5) under a newly signed trilateral mutual defense pact.
According to the joint statement, the deployment of military personnel and assets will be executed in accordance with approved mechanisms and the national laws of the respective countries.
The initiative aims to bolster military preparedness and coordination while enhancing the alliance's capability to counter various threats.
The three nations emphasized that their individual security is an integral part of collective security.
Implementing joint defense arrangements under the Mecca Pact will further strengthen their deterrence capabilities and ability to safeguard their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, the statement noted.
The trilateral alliance stated that military cooperation and coordination will be further intensified to ensure mutual security.
Emphasis was also placed on utilizing the coalition's collective capability to address any threats to Saudi Arabia's security.
Prior to the announcement, top representatives from the three countries held an emergency meeting in Riyadh following a sudden deterioration in the situation.
The meeting strongly condemned recent attacks targeting Saudi territory, particularly the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
While the formal discussions did not explicitly name the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, all three parties unequivocally rejected any threats or assaults against the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
Notably, the three countries historically signed the "Mecca Joint Defense Pact" in August of this year.
A core provision of the agreement dictates that if any of the three allied nations is attacked, the others will immediately come to its defense.
In terms of military might, the pact creates an unprecedented axis uniting Turkey—possessing NATO's second-largest military—Pakistan, the Muslim world's only nuclear-armed nation, and Saudi Arabia, the leading powerhouse of the Gulf region.
