A fresh bomb scare triggered panic at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport for the second consecutive day on Saturday after a threat message was discovered aboard a flight arriving from Phuket, Thailand.
However, an extensive security sweep revealed no explosives or hazardous items on board.
Airport sources confirmed that after the flight landed in Kolkata from Phuket around 3:00 PM, cabin crew members entered a lavatory for routine cleaning and discovered the message "Bomb inside the aircraft" written across the mirror.
The crew immediately alerted the pilot and airport security authorities.
The aircraft was promptly taxied to an isolation bay, where all passengers were safely disembarked while security personnel and airport police conducted a thorough search of the plane and luggage.
Investigators suspect the message was written intentionally to create panic.
Authorities are examining the passenger manifest and reviewing airport CCTV footage to identify the person responsible for the message.
Law enforcement agencies are also looking into whether an organized group is behind the recent spate of hoaxes.
This marks the second bomb threat incident at the airport in two days.
On Friday, a similar hoax unfolded after a threatening note claiming a bomb had been planted was discovered inside a women's restroom at the airport.
