Newly-wed Radhika wears hand painted lehenga by artist Jayasri Burman
Radhika Merchant’s first appearance as an Ambani bahu is nothing short of spectacular. The billionaire heiress looked stunning in a hand-painted pink lehenga, a collaboration between artist Jayasri Burman and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
Taking to Instagram, her stylist Rhea Kapoor shared, “To bring Jayasri’s painting to life, the lehenga’s 12 panels are hand-painted on a special Italian canvas. Featuring Jayasri’s quintessential mythical aesthetic, the garment celebrates Anant’s union with Radhika through deeply meaningful imagery.”
She further added that while the human figures represent the happy couple, radiating a celestial aura that honors the divinity in their humanity, the fauna depicts Anant’s fondness for animals, particularly elephants which are considered auspicious and beautiful.
The craftsmanship features meticulous hand embroidery of real gold Zardozi and sequins. Radhika paired the lehenga with a blouse hand-embroidered entirely in Resham.
Commenting on the collaboration, Burman said “Abu Sandeep are artists. The only difference is that their medium is couture while mine is canvas. Both Rhea and Abu Sandeep gave me total creative freedom and understood my essence as an artist. I found my brush dancing all over the canvas. My only hope now is that it inspires a smile on Radhika’s face and maybe someday, we’ll even see it hanging on her wall!”.
She added that she was honored to have been a part of this collaboration that features the ideal juxtaposition of hand embroidery with art. According to her, art and fashion have always been lovers— one cannot exist without the other. “And so it becomes the perfect ode to the perfect couple that is Anant and Radhika.”
Abu Sandeep remarked, “Radhika is a gorgeous young lady and her smile illuminates an entire room! It is our intention to make her the happiest bride with this outfit.”
Radhika opted for diamond and emerald jewels to accessorize her look, a heavy neckpiece along with matching earrings, maantasa and a bracelet with tassels sealed the deal. Lotus buds adorned her hair, sitting atop a pink tissue veil. Dewy makeup, a smokey eye, and a radiant smile added charm to her ensemble.
