One third students fail in HSC exams

The passing rate and GPA-5 both have decreased in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations under 10 boards including madrassa and technical education boards. Total 12 lakh 88 thousand 757 students sat for the examinations this year. Of them 8 lakh 58 thousand 801 have passed. So 4 lakh 29 thousand 956 have failed to pass in the examinations.

This year the average passing rate is 66.64 percent under 10 boards. Last year the rate was 68.91 percent. According to the calculation this year the pass rate has decreased by 2.27 percent in the higher secondary level.

This year 29 thousand 262 students have obtained GPA-5. The number was 37 thousand 726 in last year. So the number of GPA-5 has reduced by 8 thousand 464.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with Chairmen of all education boards handed over the summary of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gonobhaban after 10 am on Thursday.

To the students who have failed in the examinations the Education Minister said, I hope the students who failed to pass will try to get good results in the next examination after taking full preparation with new inspiration.

Greeting the students who have passed in the examinations the minister said, greetings to the students and their families. I would pray for them. I wish their success in future.

The written part of HSC and equivalent examinations took place from April 2 to May 13 in this year. The practical tests were held from May 14 to 23.
