A gas cylinder explosion at the "Wari Pasta Club" restaurant in the capital's Wari area has left eight people injured, including two with burn wounds.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 PM on Friday (January 30) in the kitchen of the restaurant, located on the third floor of the Deen Bata Showroom building.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitness Yusuf Sheikh, a loud blast drew locals and pedestrians to the scene. They assisted in rescuing the victims and transporting them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by 11:00 PM.
The injured have been identified as: Shah Alam (45), Yunus (30), Sourav (25), Mehedi (25), Mostafa (27), Abir (22), Jasim (28), Kamrul (20)
Medical Condition of the Victims
Dr. Harun-or-Rashid, Resident Surgeon at the DMCH Burn Unit emergency department, confirmed that two victims are currently hospitalized with burn injuries: Kamrul: 8% of his body has been burnt and Jasim: 3% of his body has been burnt.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the DMCH Police Camp, stated that while the two burn victims are undergoing specialized treatment, several of the other six injured individuals—who sustained various physical injuries from the blast—are expected to be discharged after receiving primary care.
