BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman emphasised that while differences of opinion are natural in a democracy, political parties must remain united to safeguard the country's interests and uphold democratic values.

He made these remarks on Thursday (April 24) evening during an online address as the chief guest at a workshop focused on BNP's 31-point reform agenda, held in the districts of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, and Panchagarh.

"Despite facing the threats of authoritarianism, BNP has put forward a comprehensive reform plan for national development. Disagreements are part of democratic discourse, but we must ensure these divisions do not disrupt democracy again. Protecting voting rights and establishing democratic governance is a must—no matter the cost," said Rahman.

He pointed out the disconnect between public expectations and the interests of certain groups, adding, "Our goal is to build national consensus to move the country forward."

Highlighting the importance of civic engagement, he remarked, "If democratic rights are denied, all progress is hampered. To secure votes, parties must engage directly with the people. There is no substitute for grassroots connection."

Rahman also stated that BNP's reform initiative stands apart due to its courage and clarity, saying, "We proposed reforms in defiance of authoritarian pressure. Now others are proposing their versions—let the people judge. We are committed to implementing our proposals. Reform is a continuous journey."

He reiterated that BNP is not merely presenting proposals but actively reaching out to citizens across the country. "Our leaders and activists are taking the 31 points to every household," he said.

Tarique Rahman claimed that BNP was responsible for 70% of the positive progress in the country, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, employment, women's empowerment, and environmental issues. "People believe BNP can deliver real change. Earning that trust has not been easy—we've faced many trials."

He concluded by highlighting BNP's proposal to expand the number of reserved seats for women in Parliament from 50 to 100 as part of its commitment to women's empowerment.
