
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs will host a two-day cultural event, named Sharadiya Sanskritik Utsav 2025, to mark Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Bangali Hindu community.
The event will begin with the jatrapala (folk theatre) titled 'Mahishasur Mardini, Devi Durga' on September 30 at the Suhrawardy Udyan Mukta Mancha while end with a cultural programme on October 1 at the Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with other advisors, is expected to attend the event, which will be managed by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The jatra pala, which will take place on the first day from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, will be featured by Palakar Ujjal Kumar Byapari and staged by Mata Majjulika Religious Natya Sangstha.
The cultural programme will be held on the closing day from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The evening begins with an invocation in the form of a 'Manglik Nritya', accompanied by traditional drum and dhol.
The performances that follow will include Shyama Sangeet, devotional songs, patriotic numbers, and contemporary songs. Solo performers scheduled to appear include Anima Roy, Debolina Sur Dola, Rituraj and Sithi Saha.
Tapan Chandra Majumdar, Bijan Kanti Sarkar, Ramesh Dutta and Tarun Dey are expected to join the cultural programme as guests.
The two-day event is free and open to the public.
Earlier, the ministry and Shilpakala Academy jointly arranged events titled Chand Rater Ananda to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha while arranged a cultural programme to mark Buddha Purnima this year.
