
A total of 27 Bangladeshi nationals have died while performing the holy Hajj in Saudi Arabia so far. Among the deceased are 18 men and 9 women.
According to officials, 18 of the pilgrims passed away in Makkah, while the remaining 9 died in Madinah.
Airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), and the Bangladesh Hajj Office confirmed the information on Sunday (May 24).
According to official data, a total of 79,164 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims and management members have arrived in Saudi Arabia this year. Among them, 4,464 went under government management, while 73,926 traveled under private management.
Additionally, 774 management members, including Hajj agency officials, representatives of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB), and members of various support teams, have reached the kingdom.
Flight Operations and Schedule
A total of 201 flights were operated to transport the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. Out of these, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 98 flights, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) ran 73, and Flynas operated 30 flights.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried 38,702 pilgrims, Saudi Airlines transported 27,340, and Flynas carried 12,157 pilgrims.
The holy Hajj is scheduled to be held this year on May 26. The departure of Hajj flights from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia began on April 18 and concluded with the final flight on May 21.
Following the completion of Hajj rituals, return flights are scheduled to begin on May 30 and will conclude on June 30.
