
A total of 66,174 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia following the completion of this year’s Hajj, which concluded on May 26.
Providing an update on the ongoing return operations, a Hajj office official stated, "A total of 180 return flights were operated by three designated carriers -- 97 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 61 by Saudia Airlines and 22 by Flynas Airlines."
Out of the total number of returnees, 4,459 pilgrims completed their Hajj under government management, while 61,715 performed the pilgrimage through private travel agencies.
Breaking down the passenger data by airline, 30,573 pilgrims traveled on 97 Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights, 22,729 returned via 61 Saudia Airlines flights, and 8,672 arrived on 22 Flynas Airlines flights.
Additionally, 4,200 pilgrims reached home on board other carriers.
Officials noted that the remaining pilgrims are expected to return gradually via designated airlines as the return flight schedule, which began on May 30, continues through July 1.
The Hajj office also provided a somber update regarding the health and safety of the pilgrims, confirming that 55 Bangladeshi nationals—37 males and 18 females—passed away in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj period.
Of these tragic deaths, 37 occurred in Makkah, 17 in Madinah, and one in Jeddah, with no deaths reported in Mina or Muzdalifah.
Regarding healthcare services, the Hajj bulletin reported that 415 pilgrims received treatment at various hospitals for illnesses, with 10 currently hospitalized.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabian medical centers provided care to 67,036 pilgrims, and the IT help desk facilitated services for 28,383 pilgrims across Makkah and Madinah.
This year’s Hajj operations saw an outbound flight phase that began on April 18 and concluded on May 21.
According to the Hajj office, the total pilgrim quota for Bangladesh was 78,500, consisting of 4,565 pilgrims under government management and 73,935 under private arrangements.
