All about the ICC Men's T20 World Cup

The ninth edition of ICC T20 World Cup is knocking at the door. This global tournament will be held from June 2.

T20 World Cup will feature a record number of teams, with 20 different sides represented in a tournament co-hosted by the USA and West Indies between June 1-29. Canada will take on the USA in the opening match of the short format supremacy. And on June 29, the curtain will come down through the finals of this global epic. The opening match of this battle of ball-bat frenzy will be played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas and the title-deciding match will be played in Bridgetown, Barbados.

World Cup Host: The West Indies will jointly host this tournament with the United States. However, this is the first time that an ICC event is going to be held on US. On the other hand, West Indies was the host country of 2007 ODI World Cup and 2010 T20 World Cup. Apart from this, two women's global tournaments have been organized in the Caribbean country.

World Cup Venue: This year's World Cup is going to be organized in 9 venues of the two countries. Of these, the matches will be held at three venues in the United States and six in the West Indies. New York, Florida and Texas in America. On the other hand, West Indies will play World Cup matches in Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago.

20-team tournament: For the first time, the T20 World Cup is taking place with 20 teams. In addition to the two hosts West Indies and the United States, the top eight teams of the last edition, Australia, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, South Africa and Sri Lanka get the opportunity to play directly on the world stage. On the other hand, due to being ahead in the ranking, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are also playing directly in this global tournament.

World Cup format: In this tournament, 20 teams will be divided into four groups. Each team will play four matches in the group stage. The top two teams from each of the four groups will be divided into two groups in the Super Eight. And from there, the top two teams will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semis will enter the two title fights.

Group 'A': India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, USA
Group 'B': England, Australia, Namibia, Oman, Scotland,
Group 'C': West Indies, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Uganda
Group 'D': South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal

If the match is tied: If a match is tied in the World Cup this time, it will be converted into a super over. If the super over is tied, it will be super over again. Play will continue in Super Over till the result of the match.

Former champions: Six teams have won the T20 World Cup in the previous eight editions. India romped to the title in the inaugural tournament of the shorter format. Apart from this, West Indies and England have won this title twice.
