What Argentine coach says after losing to France
Argentina Under-23 football coach, Javier Mascherano has suggested that his team was defeated against France at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics games because his players failed to score.
Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the only goal of the match as Thierry Henry’s team defeated Argentina 1-0 on Friday.
France will now face Egypt in the semi-final stage on Monday.
Speaking to the media after the game, Mascherano said as quoted by Mundo Albiceleste: “The match was practically all us. The only thing we missed was a goal.
'Football has these things. Sometimes you do everything you can to win it and we did well not to lose it, but we came up empty-handed.'
'It's difficult to understand a game like today's, where we had little or nothing to show for it and we had a few chances to tie it.'
'It hurts a lot because we had the illusion that this team could go far.'
