Van Nistelrooy Departs Manchester United Undefeated as Interim Coach
After not securing a place on Ruben Amorim's coaching staff, interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has left Manchester United. Ending his time with United while remaining undefeated, the Dutch coach steps away from the club.
Amorim arrived at United on Monday, November 11, and on the same day, Manchester United announced van Nistelrooy's departure. Van Nistelrooy had joined United last July on a two-year contract as an assistant coach. Due to the team’s string of poor performances, head coach Erik ten Hag was dismissed at the end of last month, with van Nistelrooy appointed as interim coach.
Under his guidance, United went undefeated in all four matches across competitions. His final game was a 3-0 league victory over Leicester City on Sunday, November 10.
Although van Nistelrooy expressed his desire to remain at United multiple times and was willing to stay in any role, his wish could not be fulfilled.
Van Nistelrooy played for United for five seasons, scoring 150 goals in 219 appearances. He is considered a legendary figure at the club.
