The Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) has announced that it will send both its men’s and women’s national teams to compete in the upcoming qualification tournaments for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, scheduled for later this year.
BHF General Secretary Lt. Col. (retd.) Riazul Hasan shared the details with the media on Saturday.
He outlined the travel schedule, noting that the men’s team will compete in Muscat, Oman, from March 25 to April 5, while the women’s team will play in Jakarta, Indonesia, from April 20 to 30.
The federation is set to launch training camps for both squads shortly. Regarding qualification prospects, Riazul Hasan expressed confidence in the men’s side, stating that they are expected to secure a spot in the Asian Games.
In a historic move, the BHF also plans to form and send a senior women’s national team for the first time.
"As Bangladesh has never had a senior women’s team, we are planning to form one to provide them with essential international exposure and experience in Jakarta," the BHF General Secretary said.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4.
