Jyoti to Step Down from T20 Captaincy

The Bangladesh women's cricket team recently exited the Asia Cup after losing to India in the semifinals.

Amid mounting criticism following this defeat, captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti has decided to resign from her position as the T20 team captain.

She will step down from the T20 leadership starting with the upcoming Asian Games.

On Tuesday (September 15), she officially communicated her decision to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, Jyoti will continue to serve as the ODI captain.

Jyoti cited a desire to focus more on her batting as the reason for stepping down from the T20 captaincy, conveying her decision to the BCB via email.

The BCB has not yet made a final decision regarding the matter. The board will hold discussions with Jyoti after the women's team returns to the country.

Routinely, rumors suggest that if Jyoti relinquishes the T20 captaincy, Nahida Akter could take over the role, while Sobhana Mostary might be appointed as the vice-captain.
