Cricketers have enforced strike in country’s all level local games including national team, A team and high performance team. But the age based cricket will be out of this strike.
The information was delivered by Shakib Al Hasan on behalf of the cricketers at Mirpur Cricket Academy on Monday.
Shakib said, all excluding under-19 players are under cover of the strike. We have decided not to play all types of games including first class, national team warm up, international cricket and excluding age based cricket of under 17, 15.
He mentioned that they will return to normal activities after meeting the demand by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. He said, we all want development of our cricket. A player usually plays for three to four years. Some players play for 10 years. We want to keep a beautiful atmosphere for the future cricket players.
Before commencement of the National Cricket League (NCL) the cricketers though that their match fee would be increased. But they became frustrated. On the other hand there is no franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). So they were more frustrated. Therefore the cricketers joined the press conference on Monday.
On the day Bangladesh’s test and T-twenty captain Shakib demanded change in the qualitative aspects for the home cricket.
He said, there was much discussion on our home cricket. We all know the quality of our second and third division cricket. There were media reports about the quality. Sometimes before the match we know that which team is going to win. This is very sad. We think that it is very necessary to change the situation.
Shakib also informed that women team is not included in this process but they will work for their betterment.
National level cricketers including Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Rahman, Enamul Haque Bijoy, Nayeem Islam, Nurul Hasan Sohan were present at that time.
