
Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) have called off their strike formally that began after the death of Abrar Fahad. The strike was called off after continuation for nearly about two months.
The students at a press conference at the Shaheed Minar announced end of their movement. The students at that time thanked the university authority for meeting all the demands. Along with this they informed that they will participate in the coming term examinations scheduled to hold from December 28.
Fourth year student of BUET electrical and electronic engineering department Mahmudur Rahman Sayem read out the written speech at the press conference. He said, the non-cooperation to the academic activities has come to an end. From now we will cooperate the university administration for academic purposes. We will participate in the term examinations. Thanks to the administration for meeting the demands.
Mentionable, some leaders and activists of Chhatra League called BUET student Abrar Fahad in the night of October 6 over the issue of posting a facebook status. Later at 3 am his body was recovered from the staircase of Sher-e-Bangla Hall. On the following day his autopsy was done at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Abrar was a second year student of BUET electrical and electronic engineering department. He was living in the room number 1011 of Sher-e-Bangla Hall. In this connection Abrar’s father filed a case with Chawkbazar police station accusing 19 people. Following that incident the students of BUET went on movement.
