
New Zealand secured a historic series victory on Indian soil after defeating the hosts in the third and final ODI in Indore on Sunday (January 18).
Having lost all seven of their previous bilateral ODI series in India, the Kiwis finally broke the jinx with a 2-1 series win.
The Kiwi Charge: Mitchell and Phillips Shine
After being put in to bat, New Zealand faced an early scare, losing two wickets for just 5 per cent.
However, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips rescued the innings with a massive partnership. Both batsmen struck brilliant centuries to propel New Zealand to a formidable total of 337/8.
The Chase: Kohli’s Lone Battle
India’s chase started promisingly with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, but the captain departed early for 11.
Virat Kohli then took charge of the innings, fighting a lonely battle to keep India in the hunt. He found some support from Nitish Reddy (53) and Harshit Rana (52), but it wasn't enough to cross the finish line.

The Final Blow
The momentum shifted decisively when Kohli was dismissed. In the same over, Kuldeep Yadav was run out, effectively ending India’s resistance.
India was eventually bowled out for 296 in 46 overs, handing New Zealand a 41-run victory in the match and the series trophy.
