The Australian cricket team has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Regular captain Pat Cummins, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, and veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon have all returned to the team after recovering from injuries.
The series is set to begin with the first Test in Darwin on August 13. The second and final Test of the series will follow in Mackay on August 22.
As part of the ICC World Test Championship, this tour marks Bangladesh's first Test series on Australian soil since 2003.
Captain Pat Cummins, who was sidelined for an extended period due to a back injury, and Nathan Lyon, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, are returning to the Test playing XI.
Additionally, Josh Hazlewood's comeback from an ankle injury has further bolstered Australia's bowling attack.
This creates the prospect of seeing Australia's famed "Big Four" bowling unit (Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, and Lyon) back together on the field after a long hiatus.
The return of these experienced stars, however, left Michael Neser unfortunate; despite good performances, he missed out on a spot in the 13-member main squad and will instead serve as a standby player.
Australia's 13-Member Test Squad:
Pat Cummins (Captain), Travis Head, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Jake Weatherald, Cameron Green, Beau Webster, Alex Carey (Wicketkeeper), Josh Inglis (Wicketkeeper), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland, and Nathan Lyon.
