Lionel Messi has finally extended his contract with Inter Miami. Both parties had previously given positive indications regarding an extension, and the deal has now been officially formalized.
Leo has committed to Inter Miami for two additional years, meaning he will be seen in the Herons' jersey in Florida until 2028.
Since Lionel Messi arrived in Florida, Inter Miami has been transformed, and Major League Soccer (MLS) has been revolutionized.
The league's brand value has soared, and the once-unknown Miami club has gained worldwide recognition.
The club authorities were doing their utmost to retain the star responsible for these achievements, and they have finally secured certainty.
Inter Miami's relationship with Lionel Messi was set to conclude at the end of the current season. That term has now been extended until 2028. He has signed on for two more years, although neither party has confirmed the amount of the salary increase in his new contract.
Messi, however, is happy to extend his contract with Miami. He stated, “To be honest, I am truly happy to be here.
When I first started here, I said clearly that playing in this stadium was like a dream for me. I can still say the feeling is the same.” He added, “We are going to have a new stadium soon. It truly excites me that the fans will watch the games sitting there.”
Soon after signing with Miami, Messi helped the club win the Leagues Cup. Last year, his outstanding performance also led the Herons to win the Supporters' Shield.
Leo remains in brilliant form this current season, becoming the league's top scorer. His performance is a clear factor in keeping him, in addition to the club’s plan to inaugurate their new stadium next year through him.
Regarding the Argentine star's contract, Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham commented, “There is no one else like Messi that we could bring in.
When we signed him, it was something incredible. He is still just as committed. He always wants to win. His new contract with the club shows how committed he is.”
Since Leo Messi's arrival in MLS, the influx of star players to America has increased. Players like Suárez, Jordi Alba, Busquets, and Rodrigo De Paul have also joined Miami.
However, Inter Miami has not yet made a decision regarding the contracts of some of these players.
