Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (Saturday) urged the country's businessmen to put concentration on research for product diversification and own branding to boost export and business growth. "You (Businessmen) have to move ahead (inside and outside the country) through developing own brand" she told the inaugural ceremony of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2022 at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BBCFEC) at Purbachal, a new city in the outskirts of the capital.

The 26th 'Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2022' will begin from tomorrow at 'Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre' in the capital's Purbachal area. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the month-long trade fair virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban. Commerce Ministry and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) are jointly organizing the fair.

Around 50,000 small and medium traders have lost their jobs due to the closing of the Chaman border crossing at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Former president of Chaman Chamber of Commerce Jamaluddin Achakzai said the closure of the crossing is costing local traders Rs100 million each day, according to Express Tribune.

The US-India trade in goods showed an increase of 40 per cent in June 2021, and is on way to surpass pre-COVID -19 pandemic highs. "2021 #US-India Trade data in goods through June show increases of over 40 per cent in US-India and India-US trade from 2020, on-track to surpass even pre-pandemic highs," tweeted the US Embassy in India.

Bangladesh and Bhutan today agreed to activate the river routes to expand business between the two countries. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Bhutanese counterpart Dr. Lotay Tshering reached the consensus in a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the capital.
